I don't believe it is about any law or mandate by the federal or state government. You also realized that prior to 2013 there was no cross walk until a local pedestrian was struck and killed in a "hit and run". As a result, the community (which yes is very LGBTQ) raised the funds to create the cross walks. I guess I'm confused why some on here very upset that something that is 8 years old now needs to go. Take a ride in Montrose. Go to some of the bars and restaurants at time. You may have some change of heart. Personally I don't believe you have any thing against the community but it would be good for anyone against it to visit the area.
My gay coworkers and friends fit in w everyone and would never want to be singled out like this.

olemiss1968 : I like Montrose! This isn't personal.They got the permit based on "artwork" that was approved. It shouldn't have been bc it clearly is political and controversial. It's opens the issue to everyone now being entitled to paint their symbols in the crosswalks.
It's clearly a case of getting special attention.
To be honest with you, the intersection is a distraction, especially for first timers traveling through there.

I'm not sure, but I bet someone complained about city government streets being used to display political views. If one group is allowed, aren't all of them going to be allowed?
