Historically, when a society denies its members justice, the people take the law into their own hands - and pandemonium ensues. I seriously hope we're not headed down that path.
MissAmericanPie : I don't know. Go drive drunk and kill two people. If you're able, let us know the outcome and the expense.
eighteen : My point was, they didn't need to sell off all their belongings for a guilty plea and court costs
MissAmericanPie : Apparently they did, because that's what they did.
MissAmericanPie : After several years of paying an attorney.

My friend was killed by a drunk driver in Colorado and he was given 6 years in jail.
Jaggar Smith, the former KHS teenager who was driving drunk and his 2 teen female passengers were killed in an accident , has received his sentence after pleading guilty. The sentence is 10 years probation and 120 days in jail broken out over 10 years including being in jail on the anniversary of the death of his two passengers. This is according to ABC 13 news. I wonder what the families of the 2 girls think of this sentence. If it was me, I would have wanted him to receive an extended stay in prison.
I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this. I think the parents need to be held accountable for this as well. And I hope there's counseling involved and remorse on his end.
Yes to both.
, then he will be beneficial to the community, I hope.
I feel sorry for all invilolved but before people throw stones from their pillars.. you may want to look at the other side... Devils advocate here.... Would you think or feel the same if this was you or your son? Nobody cares about a drunk driver until someone is hurt... why didn't anybody report him drunk before he drove? He made a big mistake he has to live with and remember for the rest of his life... he got his friends killed. How would you feel if that was you? Or your son? Those girls with him and were having fun... they probably were all drinking... do we know.. i dont. He has to be on probation for 10 years means if he messes up he goes to jail. Thats a harsh reminder. How would you feel if this was you or your son? He has to stop his life and report to jail for for 120 days.. showing up and doing that is a pain in itself. Your time doesnt start until you are booked into housing. That could take hours to process. We are not perfect we all make mistakes and have especially as teenagers... so a kid messed up... you want to send him to jail where he will probably become a real criminal. Why not make him become an advocate on drinking and driving. Make him tell his story to other teenagers. Maybe he can make a difference in his life or another teenagers life... by being on probation for 10 years... rather than jail doing nothing living off your taxes.

I would imagine he is on a 10 year probation, & any DUI were put him in prison for the 10 years. Must have had a Really good lawyer!🤷â€â™€ï¸ðŸ™
