CoffeeandWine: Yes, a HS venue might be the answer. We were a vendor last night at the Fulshear Freedom Fest held at Jordan HS. There were massive crowds and great traffic and crowd control by the Fulshear PD. The Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce was the sponsor. The fireworks and live music took place in the HS staff parking lot and residents parked in the back of the school and/or walked from their homes. Traffic on the two 4-lane roads surrounding the HS was at a complete standstill during the finale, but cleared out quickly. Just an idea to kick around...
rdroark: Thank you. This is exactly what I've been trying to say. Even if Humble HS doesn't work anymore, there's still Atascocita HS, which has a ton of parking lot and the practice football field could be the launch site. We need to move from Town Center.
rdroark : Our trees present a problem for finding a suitable venue. Katy area has different topography than KW. Then there is the issue of impacting our already overtaxed streets and roadways.
eighteen : A stadium style show would shhh the "owed" folks, but who would pay for it? However, I love the town center businesses that get promoted during the 4th of July event.
Our very first 4th celebration in the US and it was truly an eventful experience thank you to all the organizers for making our American dream a reality. My daughter was dancing with the music and laser show carefree and safe feeling like she finally found her place she belongs.
eighteen: I agree, they have had fireworks over at Kings Harbor in the past but not this year . I used to enjoy the fireworks at towncenter but honestly the trees have gotten so tall, I think it would be hard to see, but wide open over the river at the harbor seems like the best option to me, imo, too bad the two can't come together and have a great co-festival event with fireworks
eighteen : I am not sure if Humble ISD would want to take on that liability. If something went wrong or someone was injured the district could be help responsible.
