The college degree requirement is unnecessary for the essential functions in driving the peanutmobile. In essence that is like driving a rental car shuttle at an airport. Even less demanding because there is probably no lifting involved.
One of the really hard things for HR people in today's economy is explaining to potential hires that they aren't worth what they think they are, IT certificate from a voc tech school notwithstanding.
That is why i said requiring a college degree and only paying $45k is cheap, especially for a big successful company. They essentially do meet and greets across the country driving that big stupid peanut.
The job market is what it is. Planter's pays market price. Every employer does or should.
They most likely get per day hotel and food budget. Most decent travel jobs do. If you use your car, they'll pay milage. You do have to work. Each stop is scheduled, you're not just rolling around in a peanut shell. You do meet and greets, pass out peanuts and coupons. Maybe even give some mr peanut gear away. It's work. If you're unemployed $45,000 and all expenses paid isn't a bad deal.
