Ruger5 :
4 ton chunks of steel should not be controlled by irresponsible adults. Children have as much right to use our roads as anyone. KW was designed for children to get to school safely by walking, biking and now e-biking. There are very few roads in Kingwood with speed limited over 30 MPH besides the KW drive, NP drive and West lake Houston PKWy.

pickme2 : Sorry, you are wrong. Elementary school aged children have NO business sharing roadways with vehicles designed for high speed. Third graders on e bikes driving down Kingwood drive should not be allowed period.

No matter what you post, it will never change reality of life in KW.

pickme2 : Wanna bet? Newsflash…the dangers of these things have already made noticeable impacts …..not from law enforcement but from the national conversations going on about their dangers. So no matter what you think, they pose a clear and present danger for all. In the end common sense will prevail.

As did cars, motorcycles, bikes and many other technology advancements. They all had negative campaigns by certain sects of society, but we adapted.

pickme2 :
if you fail to see the lunacy behind, allowing second and third graders on up to share roadways with vehicles, then there isn't any more to be said here. Adults can adapt, children should not be put in a place where they must adapt for their safety. That's up to the adults in the room.

pickme2 : If such is the case, then shouldn't they be abiding by the same traffic laws as those of us driving cars probably along with recommended riding safely on their scooters or e-bike?

oldarn : to take that a step further I think it is because of lunatic drivers, drunk, drivers, texting while driving that we should not allow our children to be commingled with this danger. It is simply a no-brainer.

First let's not over dramatize this situation. I drive Kingwood roads daily, my encounters are nothing as described here. Yes children play in my street and some ride bikes, that is noted by every driver on my street and caution is exercised, just as if they were playing ball games in the street. I see e bikes mostly on the greenbelts and only on the main roads when crossing, with most crossing at designated crossing and using the lights, that's the majority, is there an outlier, sure but once I see a ebikes on the main road my caution signal goes up. As for drunk or distracted drivers, that is against the law.

pickme2 : Lol against the law? Meaning??? Newsflash It still happens……but we agree. Adapt. See danger, remove danger. Adaptation at It's finest. Lives will still be lost……but more will be saved. And that's what it's about after all.

So we removed cars from the road, hey that will solve the problem. We all know what times kids go to school, and we have school zones. You paranoia does not match reality. Carry own with your useless crusade, nothing will change. I will continue to exercise caution when driving.

pickme2 : I'm not over dramatizing anything. Then you are lucky to have missed the issues others have described. I'm just asking, if these kids are going to be on the road riding their scooters and/or e-bikes, should they not be abiding by the same traffic laws as we do driving? Unless I miss read, you telling others they should adapt or stop driving. I feel the same goes for these kids. If they are unwilling to adapt, i.e. practice safe usage of their bike or scooter then stop using it.

#msg6039539gmankw : Likely do not involve another vehicle? WTH does that mean? Try facts. Quit driving if you do not want the responsibility.

pickme2 : It means that they weren't hit by a car, they fell off or hit an object instead. Those are facts. I'll stick to the roads which is exactly where I'm supposed to be.
