#msg6032727I like skeletons. Folks just need to get more creative in the displays.
I was going to tinker with this before we moved. Maybe someone here can try it.

Easy DIY Fog Screen
apple season up North; all of the farm stands selling all of the different, just picked varieties, apple cider donuts, hayrides, pony rides, and more. love this, too.

#msg6033266We do a projection here. Use a mesh screen, fog hard to control.
It can be. There's a couple things you can project on. We used to use a lexan sheet for a Pepper's Ghost effect. I cringe to think of the price on lexan at the moment.
We do a whole skeleton scene every year. This year we did a much more tame scene than usual, since we just moved here, but we've done full yard parties of skeletons and last year did a scene with one running the other over with a lawnmower. We also have a 5ft skeleton dog we incorporate into our scene. This year the dog is chasing one of our skeletons up a tree and we have a passed out skeleton with a wine glass in our yard. We aren't religious at all so we don't see them as demonic or anything. Halloween is our favorite holiday to decorate for. We use skeletons partly because I am terrified of clowns and a lot of commercial "scary" decor involves clowns.
BELIEVE reacted #msg6032699How do you feel about skeleton Halloween decorations; they are everywhere. I think they must be inexpensive. I just don't "get it". When I was a kid Halloween decorations usually had to do with witches, black cats, pumpkins, and ghosts, but not skeletons.
Hubby just bought 4 at Lowes the other day. He said he wanted to buy more but didn't want to get a bigger storage locker!

Also, I'd add that Halloween and Day of the Dead are pretty closely linked, especially in Houston with a large Hispanic population, and Day of the Dead has always used strong skeleton symbols in its celebration.
Skeletons are ok-- some of the other stuff is a little much. I decorate more for fall now.
When I was in anatomy lab in college you had to learn every bone in the body. They were laid out in the lab, and you had to walk from station to station to study them--- lots of after hours in the lab!! There was a long arm and hand that I would walk around the lab holding while I studied. (No clue why). The lab Proctor had a crush on me. So he wrapped it up and gave it to me for Halloween!! I still have it!!
