Lowering Lake Houston

It is not anticipated that there will be a need to lower the lake. It takes much more rain than forecasted to create that level of flooding. Hopefully you can relax and rest tonight. Everything will be fine.

Kittle : Thanks. Hope you are correct. After the catastrophe caused by SJRA, I don't trust any of the water authorities with flood control. We can look around the nation and see a very large number of flood events that "came out of nowhere". Next to the water authorities, I have an extremely low level of trust in meteorologists. With the tremendous growth in Montgomery County, the sand mines emitting sand that has likely offset that which was dredged, SJRA unilaterally abandoning the agreed upon pre-release protocol and the inability to lower Lake Houston to offset water coming from Lake Conroe the next time they "pull the plug"….. I support the only, single, solitary thing that can be done as a preventative measure when an uncertain amount of rain is expected….. lower Lake Houston. The storm could slow down significantly, get in a training pattern, etc. that was not expected….. then, like Harvey, it's too late.

Just read that they have dropped Lake Houston a foot. They weren't dropping Lake Conroe since it was already low.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I took my patio chairs and fan and put them in the garage along with securing pool poles. Just in case. I tied my umbrella closed too.

Go down to River Grove. It looks like it has been lowered quite a bit.
