ZMAN :
Unfortunately, on the other side of the bridge you're not in COH even though it's technically considered Kingwood.

cbear : Paid for by your tax dollars. That's why anyone in KW is eligible except the HOA can decide to get a stipend from COH for NOT using them. Then the HOA hire a private trash company and you pay extra for that private pick up.

MissAmericanPie : So.....I cannot elect to have COH trash then?

cbear : Yes- as you pay for it in your taxes. What many don't understand - the COH services are non existent out in Kingwood since we were annexed. They take the money and provide no services.

Aggie89 : Huh. Well, my DD who lives in EG has COH.

Im guessing the HOAs get kickback for using "Best Trash" and others, Total scam.

ZMAN :
HOAs do not get a kickback. To even imply that is borderline defamatory. The way it works in MBV is that COH reimburses the community $6/month for each home each month. It amounts to ~$7,200. That ~$7,200 is then sent to the private hauler, in MBV's case Best Trash. This helps offset the quarterly cost per home. I have fought with COH Solid Waste Department about the amount of their reimbursement. It should be about $20/month, not $6/month.
So, NO, the HOA in MBV at least DOES NOT POCKET THE MONEY.
COH has serious issues with reliability, picks up garbage once a week and recycling every other week. COH's bulk pickup is almost non-existent, ask the residents of Elm Grove who waited months.
Best Trash (and Waste Management before them) has been incredibly reliable. They pick up garbage twice a week and recycling weekly. You can leave out large items most any time.

ZMAN : The COH will not service anymore villages in Kingwood. Sand Creek asked and the city said no because of the cost. The COH continues to pay the $6 a month for private trash per household. The money is sent to the HOA. The HOA does pay Best trash the $6 a month even though the city is about a year behind in payments. According to the COH it would cost the city $20.00 per household to service the Village. The COH is always about the money.

ZMAN : No they will not help. The city only services the front of Kingwood. Most Sand Creek residents would not support COH trash pick up. They would be screaming at the board.
