Zakangel : Skyline Chili has cocoa in it and it is fantastic!

cbear : It adds a depth of flavor definitely. Fish sauce is another ingredient. Won competitions on this recipe, although long ago. We have tweaked it over the years. So good!

jwardl : Not Wendy's…I had chili there once and got a sharp metal coil stuck in the roof of my mouth…do not recommend.

Joe :
Metal coil is not one of my favorite ingredients either. But Wendy's does have a good product, but I rarely visit fast food burger places. I prefer the Jason's Deli's chili.

cbear : Don't forget the cinnamon also

UptownGirl : Is that how Cincinnati got its name, because of cinnamon in their chili? Emoticon

I like Skyline chili fine but still prefer the Texas red that I make.

When they have it, the brisket chili at Firecraft is the bomb.

I've just been taught it is one of the 10 Commandments in Texas. Thou shalt not put beans in chili. My grandma would likely rolling in her grave if she thought you were considering them.

Splendora Cafe…my other half says it's the best

sheltielover : Haven't tried their chili yet, but I love their BBQ, particularly the spicy sausage. I'll have to try the chili next time -- thanks!

jwardl: i make my own, but sampled this at HEB the other day; easy and good! Add meat, etc of your choice. I make mine 2 days before serving to enhance depth of flavor, heat on low in crock pot all day, to serve. Add rice and cornbread and its Heaven!

LittleTexas : We quit making our own chili after trying the Cookwell - it really is that good!

cbear : Don't forget the cinnamon also

UptownGirl : People think it sounds gross and I get that but...it is fantastic. You can buy it in the grocery store too either canned or frozen.

cbear : NE Ohio. One of my best friends went to U of Cinn. Spent some time in Cinny to see the Bengals and The Reds and Pete Rose. Always liked Cinny. Skyline Chili was always on the menu.

UptownGirl : That is my place of birth. Moved to Columbus and went to Ohio State. Got married and ended up in Texas.

Zakangel :
I have never had it either. I mean many years ago I would get a little thing of chili at Wendy's, like you but, I can't think of anywhere else I've gotten it from.
I made some Saturday night and it wasn't great. I used a different seasoning packet and it made it too sweet.

UptownGirl :
I'm with you on this. To me, brand add some heartiness. My husband refuses me to put beans in Chili.
Oh well, I can't make a mean 15 bean soup and have all the beans I need for a few months!
