We bought another freezer and started stockpiling before tariffs hit. You really have to shop all stores if you're in it to stretch your dollars. We've kind of perfected shopping from all the store's Apps and placing orders for pickup. We will space out all the pickups over 1-2 days, and do a big haul once a month. Aldi or Walmart is usually where we find the best prices on perishables we need to pickup weekly. Last month is really when I started noticing the effects of tariffs, and it's now getting really weird who has the best price. Coffee really went up this month, and we strangely found the best price on Amazon. Beef started going up in price mid summer. Sam's 10 lb roll of ground beef has usually been the best buy for years; Walmart beat Sam's price on ground beef this month. Bakery bread has been cheaper than commercial bread since the war in Ukraine has reduced global wheat supply. Bread freezes well. Even fewer people know the dampen and pop in the oven trick to revive stale bread. So don't pass up the day old bakery deals. When it comes to reduced for quick sale meat; beef and lamb is your safest bet, any brown/discolorization you are seeing is oxidation and not spoilage.* This is a General chat discussion. JamminTX : No, I have seen it in controlled settings where it is planned and closely monitored/ Kroger is not doing that. It is expensive to raise the value of meat by aging it. Central Market does it.I get my dry aged, I don't like wet, from a restaurant, uncooked, to bring home. You can have all of my accidentally aged meat. Enjoy.

Plus HEB many times only carries their own store brand and no other brands,
smokey545 : We use the HEB Visa credit card, so we get 5% back every month on all HEB branded merchandise. We only shop Kroger for sale items. When we first moved to KW, our grocery shopping options were limited to Holiday Foods and Jamail's. When the Randall's was built in the back of KW, that was where my DW shopped most often. When little Kroger opened, she shifted her grocery shopping there until the new HEB was built where the apartments were at KWD and WLHP.
SummerSneeze : Cafe Ole mocha- I mix one of those with a pod of decaf to kickstart my day. I love Mixla tortillas. I found their meats, poultry and fish to be great. The HEB brand of tortilla soup starter . Gosh so many things! Their big cashews were great too.
Freezer paper- that stuff is THE best- just like the old time butcher paper. I love their heavy duty foil but we have tons of that
