TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I have started to save aluminum cans and when I get enough, I will make a trip up to a place in New Caney that recycles metal.

cbear : Good point on aluminum. It is also recyclable in the U.S.

If recycling ends up with all other trash, why do we have it? Maybe just another way to make money?

buffaloglenn : Yes. My trash bag is getting to the point where I may need to stop and be sure that I can lift it.

cbear : My parents used to do that and we would give them ours. They would save the money they got and give it to the 3 grandkids at Christmas to show them you can make some money with little effort if you really want to. They would each get $50 to $75 in addition to their Christmas gifts. The kids loved it!

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Wow...that is alot. I figured I would be lucky to get $4. Not in it for the money anyway but to keep this stuff out of landfills.

Help me understand this, please… Just saw a story about (Spring Branch) residents upset about recycling not being picked up in over a month. My question would be why not, after the first missed pick up, would you not just add it to regular garbage for pick up? I would not waste my time going to City Hall to complain and protest, or waste time separating if they aren't interested in picking it up. Most everyone knows that most of the separated recycling eventually ends up in the same dump pile as regular trash anyway.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Agreed. I wish there were more recycling facilities. I would have no problem keeping amazon boxes etc and once a month or so...make a trip up to reycle paper, cardboard etc.
