I know right? Just the thought !

I remember years ( early 90's)ago DS took part in a growth hormone study. He had normal levels but the receptors were not taking up the hormone- he was very small. Anyways there were mountains of paper work to go through- theory, risks and benefits and past studies. In one of the studies the kids had a higher than normal tendency to bone cancer. The study was done in Japan. I questioned the doctor about the bone cancer - because the statistics seemed skewed from other studies. The Dr said they had to put bone cancer as a possible risk- they could not rule out the risk BUT theorized that radiation from the bombs dropped on Japan could cause higher cancer rates generations later. I knew that from my Dad but wanted to do my due diligence for my DS.

Here's me: get a magnum of the best champagne- climb onto my roof (or maybe float in my pool) or maybe hike to my spot and watch it all go down. I'm old and wouldn't survive or maybe I don't want to survive to struggle through nuclear winter so might as well go out vibing 🤣

All I need is a school desk from the 80s.

eighteen : the 60's and 70's style of desk were designed to "protect" us from bombs, tornadoes and hurricanes. Or so they said! I remember the drills well.

As close as Kingwood and Houston are to the gulf, any bunker deep enough to serve as a shelter would require a swimsuit and a snorkel. 🙃

Sisyphus HappyHerself : My Dad was a chemist for the government first in New Mexico post WWII and later for Rocktdyne in McGregor working on rocket fuel for NASA. He wouldn't bother with a bomb shelter- he said it wasn't worth protecting from blast or radiation post blast. He said the death count would be astronomical, survival would be extremely hard. Guess that's where I get my attitude- not being flippant- I am very very concerned, but it's out of my control.

Labslady : I would rather go with first blast then experience the radiation fall out.
