Hi everyone! I'm Gloria-new to Kingwood, new to Houston, and new

Get used to the idea that you can get all 4 seasons in ONE DAY! You can start the day in t-shirt and shorts, and twenty minutes later (when a blue Norther blows straight down from Canada) you're putting on a jacket! The saying here is "If you don't like the weather wait twenty minutes." I guess the way I would describe the seasons is a very, very long summer (which I still prefer to the very, very long winters I experienced in Chicago and the East Coast), but once it cools down, the fall, most of what they call winter here, and the spring are wonderful. We get snow every few years, the "fall" color can occur as late as end of December, and then new buds opening on the trees by late January! In other words, there's nothing logical or consistent about our weather here!

cardinalsong: Honestly, this sounds ideal. The idea of the majority of the year being warm is so attractive to me after spending my whole life on the east coast. I will always much rather be hot than cold.but i totally agree with your earlier point that this first summer will be an adjustment…

One funny thing is that all the stores have sales on patio furniture, BBQ grills, etc. right now, at the beginning of the summer, but our time to finally enjoy the outdoors again starts about October!
You clearly have a good attitude about your new home, so I think you will enjoy it here very much.

dejaglo : Oh how precious! Im gonna share this pic with dh - trying to convince him to allow a sibling for Tessa. He was a hard no Tessa but now he's crazy about her. A big plus is she doesn't scratch furniture- we have too many leather pieces to risk….but they can be trained. Thanks for sharing! Adorable kitties!

No, we knew him from our church in Florida before moving here. He decided to go north to raise horses and train dogs. He also flies a helicopter for the Coast Guard. He's just an all around great guy.

I hope you can convince him! Especially at the younger ages, companionship is important for their socialization and for learning all those essential "cat skills." When littles grow up with another cat, they get to practice boundaries, communication, and play in ways that humans just can't replicate, ya know? It helps them burn off energy in a healthy way, reduces boredom and loneliness, and makes for a more confident and well-adjusted cat in the long run. Also helps cut down on behavioral issues since they have a natural outlet for their energy and curiosity. It'll be a GOOD thing for Tessa. Dm me if you need more talking points lol I got you!
