The crossing at Bassingham & NP is tough. People on bikes come through and don't even look for cars ! I always slow and look.
Not stopping and looking is asking for trouble. Not everyone is as cautious and concerned as you.
There was a girl (11-12 years old) that got killed about 4 years ago at the intersection of KW Drive and Forest Garden. The driver of the car was not at fault, but the little girl was from out of country and who knows exactly what happened. Poor driver has to live with that and probably second guesses things, but he was not to blame from what I understand. I think about that every time I go through that intersection, and I try to keep that in mind when crossing all the greenbelt trails. It's not a race.
Yes, of course I always give the right of way to people, joggers/runners & cyclists... especially at crosswalks. I should think it would be common sense...
There are about 3 girls on scooters that live near us in Sand Creek. They are fearless and it's kind of funny to watch them flying by, but I dread the day one of them gets hit by a car. I call them the Hell's Angels. There are a LOT of speeders plus these girls zipping around. Not a good combination.
I am sorry this has happened to you. But do be careful out there. Yeah I yield to anyone on at crosswalks.
Yes. If there is no traffic light then the law is you stop to give crossing pedestrians the right of way. So I do. I also (and this is gonna blow the minds of 90% of Kingwoodians) use my signals when turning or changing lanes.
I slow down and pay extra attention to the trail openings. Especially around the parks. I'm not trying to accidentally hurt or kill someone.

I have had one incident with a young kid on a bike coming out of a trial without looking. I didn't realize there was a trail so I am so glad my response time was right on. Everyone should be extra careful around Sonic. I have had incidents where kids don't even stop before crossing the parking lot. They just dart across without a care.
I was told there was a young man on a bike crossing Mills Branch at the Exxon and was hit and killed. This was about 2 weeks ago at night.
