sweetie: Yes I lived several places in Ohio and never ever had to drip faucet or open cabinet doors for faucets on outside walls.
I just leave mine open at night, and only ones below sink pipes. It will warm up each day, so no need to drip or leave the cabinets open, during those hours.
What person would put a water heater in the attic?? Does not sound as if they know what they are doing.

I do remember dripping faucets there for a few rare occasions. Like 18 below lol
sweetie : You know that when people do drip their sinks, the water flow for the Fire Dept decreases for water pressure because of everybody drips their faucets. Just open your cabinet doors on the cabinets facing outside walls. Turn up theheat a degree or 2.
Is there any way to tell what the R-value are on what the home constructed with? R-values measure how well a material resists heat transfer through conduction. Higher R-values indicate better insulation. Brick has one, vinyl siding another, hardy plank another. The type of insulation, as well has an R-value, and then the type of pipes. It's sort of like thinking about torque ratio on different types of wood.
