I'm sorry. I just don't remember that one. To many birthday's for this old gal This year will be #87.
Back in the mid 1950s my family used to bring us out here to swim in the San Jacinto. We camped along the river just on the other side of I59. The water was clear with a muddy bottom but white sand beaches. I remember crossing that old bridge and thinking we were almost there. Lots of simple fun then. Don't remember too much wildlife but lots of mosquitoes. But heck who cared we were outside and running around and swimming!

Oldest Church in The Liveable Forest? According to a 2005 story written by Pam Gibbens, the first church built in Kingwood (circa 1972) was the Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, located at 1901 Woodland Hills Drive. Author Tip Barnes, who was a key player in the early development of Kingwood, wrote a book titled "Kingwood; The Early Days", and noted that the young pastor, V. George Brookover held the first service at Holy Comforter on Christmas Eve, 1972. Gibbens wrote, "Barnes, a gentleman with a keen sense of humor, fondly recalls many historical events and interesting people who were instrumental in etching out the first plans for Kingwood in his new book, "Kingwood; The Early Days." The book is available at the Kingwood Library."
