Bizarre I was thinking that the folks of KW might want to do this since Houston is declining, and that chaos/violence will eventually spread out to our area.

@KayElleDee : It is happening as we speak.

Heathur : Let me know when It is go time. We could team up with DPS, and HPD they have lots of great equipment. including Helicopters, Nice trucks, even a Hellcat redeye seized from street racers and turned into DPS vehicle.

Is there something in the water in Kingwood making y'all act up? Because some of y'all are in rare form here recently. Found this gem on Facebook…

Heathur :
It's nothing more than pure frustration at the state of things: prices way up, groceries are depressing to buy, ins way up with coverage declining and the cost of home ownership becoming out of reach for many..

And social media's glaring lies about "living your best life"

And, no proper effective way to digest and process it all.

IOW, PRESSURE.

@bufalloglenn do you not believe we're experiencing a crime wave in KW?

We did this in Fosters Mill right after Hurricane Harvey when the looters decided to come play. No power. It was kinda surreal when the sun went down. It was like a like a deployment in Iraq.

TexasTideFan : That made sense at the time, but this fakebook "Let's put a big chaw in, dress up and go hunting" thing is ridiculous. The posse will either fall asleep or shoot a jogger on the greenbelt from buck fever.

Ruger5 : No. I'm a numbers guy and don't believe the sky is falling.

If I did, the solution would be more police patrols, not "hunting boys".

Ruger5 : I don't see how anyone can't realize we have a problem since the judges are doing catch and release. My neighbor had 2 guys try to break into his door a few weeks ago. I tell you if they had gotten through he would have shot them. The police told him he was not the first attempt they had made.

buffaloglenn : Lol @hunting boys. As for uptic in crime - I've lost count of the catalytic converter's, vehicle theft, bank juggings, break-ins in shootings in Kingwood in the last three years. I lived here 20 years with the worst crimes being high school thugs taking baseball bats to mail boxes……with the exception of the girl bandits.

Donnawisdom : Have lost count of the serious crime incidents of late. Literally. How many shooting now in last few years? 5? We went 25+ plus years with ZERO shootings.

Ruger5 : We did not go 25 plus years with zero shootings.

Do we have more people in Kingwood now? Yes

Do we hear about everything now with social media that we didn't hear about 25 years ago? Yes

Do people's memories favor recent activity over historical? Yes

buffaloglenn : Ok, so we had how many shootings past 20+years - 2 maybe? And now 5 in a few years time? Back before social media people in small towns such as ours still heard it all, difference today being we're hearing it faster and maybe a little desensitized to it, but the uptick in crime is definitely here.

You say you're a numbers buy - and I don't doubt that, but you'll not be able to convince this old fart there isn't a serious crime issue in our country. If I were a thief, especially a would be thief, and I had nothing to fear, better believe I'd be taking advantage. Especially in communities where theft is considered a crime of poverty and not prosecuted at all.

What app did we use during Harvey? It was like a local walkie talkie. Pretty cool actually.

Max57 : We didn't have an app for that I think. But we were all grateful for K DC. We were coming to KDC to get all our info. There was so much help and information on this forum. joe had this place going. Restaurants were giving out food telling you where to go to get it how to get it and if anybody could deliver it to you, we found out where supplies were, by posting here. It was so helpful.
