#msg6040716there are "experts" saying that people should stock up so they are prepared in case of nuclear strikes. one of those is Dan Bongino this is beginning to sound a lot like the 50s thru the 70s... the Cold War... the arms race so this is what they mean by the Good Old Days? duck and cover! under your desk!
#msg6040852MrsC67 : Let me know when you start buying useless stuff. I may ask you to grab me something. But I always have lots of TP. That I never want to run out of.
lol
I remember the cold war drills, the students had to bring a survival kit, consisting of water (at that time water was not sold in bottles or so I am thinking. It was brought ina jar with a screw down lid along with canned meats such as Vieanna sausage or tuna or peanut butter. The girls were to bring sanitary napkins no matter if they had reached that part of their lives(just in case). We were told to hunker down by our lockers with our heads in our hands and pray (Catholic school). I had an upset stomach for about a month I was so frightened. It was terrible and I still remember to this day how scared I was that I might go to school and never see mama or daddy or my siblings ever again.
#msg6040846ProblemAgain : I have not read anyone claim that we need to stock up because of nuclear war. I did read that many countries are now running exercises so that they can function off the grid for 30-90 days. I am a worrier so I went to dark places. My husband read more and seems to think it's just exercises like they do with many other disasters. He said it might have more to do with all the concern of energy used by all these data centers. He also said it was probably no coincidence that Dan Bongino's podcast sponsors all sell products that would benefit from prepping. But I did read that many people are concerned that the midterm elections could trigger more protests and more acts of vandalism.
#msg6040612Are we panic buying Or no?
I have always bought various definite use products in bulk when the price is low. If the items store well and are things we 100% use, it works well for a budget and avoids price fluctuations down the line. Less about emergency buying but equally handy when one arises.
This whole thread had this come to mind as well.ðŸ¤
