Today I heard a wonderful article about a reintroducing the disappeared song of songbirds with robot songbirds to teach the young birds. After all, they learn by hearing and mimicking.
I could have read it but hearing to mimic was the story. Archives of recordings of songbirds from 70 or so years ago are being used.
