#msg6034906The DNS servers were obviously down earlier because I had an internet connection but it wouldn't work. I rarely have issues with Tachus now EZ, even since the buyout. If you are having daily issues then that is YOUR equipment. Even though it is EZ's equipment it is the the component/components in your house causing the issue. Rule of thumb. NEVER get your router from your provider. They are always junk with limited capabilities. Buy your own and learn how to hook one up. It is not hard and brands like ASUS are far better at everything than the junk your provider is going to charge you a monthly charge to use. Dropping that charge will pay for your own router in a very short time.

Ronstang : That was good advice with cable internet, but is way less necessary with Fiber and them supplying well reviewed eero devices.

Does anyone know how long they're suppose to be is out today? I'm assuming it's just part of Kingwood, since most people seem okay.

#msg6034869Tachus sucks. Every. Damn. Day. I'm so over Tachus. Ever since they sold to 'Ezee Fiber' their service is awful. They are almost as bad as Suddenlink! Any suggestions on a new provider?

StormChaser :

Go check with your cel phone provider.. since we changed to ATT we have had zero issues. But all providers have a similar plan.

We haven't had any problems. Have you contacted them about the issues?

CartmanUK35 : I see your point with the Eero from EZ Fiber considering they don't charge you a monthly fee, per se, I am sure it is wrapped in the bundle price but it's not like they are going to reduce it if you have your own equipment. The Eero is fine for the average user from what I see with a quick research.

Good to know and this is probably sufficient for most people but for those like me I prefer my ASUS mesh setup which allows you to mix and match any ASUS router to act as a mesh hub and considering I have 3 at the moment I got cheap I can do lots of things you cannot do with a more simple setup. I have a 24 port managed switch with every room except the dining and kitchen having a minimum of 3 wired ethernet connections so I use the WiFi mostly for phones and the TV in the kitchen for my wife.

Plus, when I had cable they would have charged me for the router and considering most quality routers last at least 6 years you are ahead on money just buying them.

When Ez took over the equipment needed to be upgraded. We upgraded our service and got a new router. My son is a streamer and he had to upgrade the router himself and so far, no drops.

I have had Tachus 1 Gb service since they started offering it. 950 up, 950 down is glorious. I can remember a few outages but nothing that ever interrupted my work schedule. Like Centerpoint, they're smart and send texts that service is interrupted.
Some companies realize that good communication is worth a lot to customers.
