That protest was on the day of the 2020 presidential vote certification.
The vote that he had spent months fighting.
In the courts, in rallies, in meetings with various state officials.
He named the effort "stop the steal".
He called the rally "save America" and exhorted the crowd to "fight like hell".
He told supporters to go to the Capitol.
They did--stormed into the building.
Wow, those rally goers really misunderstood him.
He was "calling for peace".

Show me where, in his January 6 speech, Donald Trump explicitly said, "Attack the Capitol." Those were not his words.His actual words included: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."He also said, "We fight. We fight like hell," and urged his supporters to march to the Capitol. Both parts of the speech matter.So let's be accurate. Trump did direct his supporters to go to the Capitol, and his combative rhetoric is a legitimate subject of criticism. But claiming he literally told the crowd to "attack the Capitol" is not the same as quoting what he actually said.
