State law or no, the greenbelt trails clearly state no motorized vehicles. Just because we can do something and allow our children to, doesn't mean me should.

I wonder if the trail association has it in their by-laws to pass out fines like HOA does. Many of these kids are not wearing helmets. That is clearly illegal and should be ticketed.
The greenbelts are considered private property, just like parking lots, and police can't patrol or issue citations for traffic violations on them.

But HPD could get them coming off and on the trails into the sidewalks and streets without helmets. The trail associations should be able to give fines if it is in their by-laws just like HOA can. Some neighborhoods are already paying PCT 4 extra for patrol. This is the only way it would happen as HPD is stretched too thin to even help us with traffic violations on the streets.

Unfortunately, they are legal. What we need is a public awareness campaign and enforcing of helmet laws. This needs to be pushed through city council.

Well it is still stupid, legal or not. We have the ones on the right on our pathways also in The Woodlands. Police are trying to train them how to use them since dumb parents do not. Been many accidents. People do not value their kids much these days I guess.
