Can I get real tomatoes at the market ? I'm really tired of the hydroponic toms at Kroger.

billcherie2 : grow your own, many varieties are very hardy except to extended freezes. If you grow them in pots they can thrive for at least 2 years if you put them in the garage during the deep chills and keep them shaded from the August sun. A wise woman once told me it is often wiser to talk with plants than waste opinions on the unhearing.

It's a shame if it is more flea market/craft market than a named farmers market.

SteveT : Thank you! I'm just looking for an active starter. I'm totally new to this and have no clue what I'm doing. I was recently gifted a stand mixer and a dutch oven, and I'm a bit intimidated but am hoping to start learning how to make sourdough.

Young, big smile.
Sometimes brings her baby daughter.

Furface11 : This is really good to know! Thank you! I didn't end up going today. I thought I could sneak away but work had other plans. I'm kind of considering trying to make my own now bc I need to do something. DH is really wanting sourdough lol. We both are!

Heather I have a great starter that's been passed down through a friend. Happy to give you some if you'd like. He's been chilling in the fridge for a couple weeks so it'll take me a day or two to activate him, but the offer stands.
