UptownGirl : cardinalsong : Brightspeed cut my landline while installing their fiber lines. Then they wanted to charge me $100.00 to repair the line they cut since it was on my property. I wanted to keep it, as I was the only one on the block with a landline, and all the neighbors came to use it during the last couple hurricanes. But I have finally joined the youngsters and dropped it because they were the only ones available. Now just cell phones and a thing on my computer. (99% of the calls on the landline were telemarketers trying to sell me medicare plans or final expense plans, so I never answered it, but it was nice for outgoing calls.)
We FIRED brigthspeed and It was a happy day. The customer service are absolute morons with an attitude. It's the stupidest company I've ever dealt with. They spend most of their time verifying your information, and if they can't answer your question, they send you to someone else. At some point they will open a ticker for a home visit (often not needed). And then a something will decide the home visit isn't necessary, and close the ticket, and will file your issue as resolved. While it's not a perfect solution, we went with OOMA.com. Yes, they are voice over IP, but it's incredibly cheap, and has been reliable so long as our internet service is running (Tachus). Easy setup, and we were also able to port our number from Brightspeed. They have a 911 registry for emergencies, which is why we kept brightspeed for so long.
SpaceCat : Same here went to OOMA also got rid of Security and went with Cove System we have a generator so no issues also have Tachus
