Today's bike ride: a big 88 mile loop from Kingwood to Dayton an
SteveT : I have been planning on doing it for some time - may finally be heading to Iowa next summer!

LemonEye : Dang that's a good route -I've ridden parts of the Southern route but not North of Dayton- wish I had before we left TX!! Good average too- I am way slower esp now. Trying to get back into it- lost my motivation for a while 😢
Today's bike ride: a big 88 mile loop from Kingwood to Dayton and back. It was pretty nice out - averaged nearly 18 mph and didn't even get run off the road. I caught the sunrise on the back side of Huffman and spotted a neat 1940s Chevy in a field near Kenefick.
LemonEye : WOW, That is impressive! So, it took you about 5 hours if you didn't stop anywhere. Do you cycle with a group?
TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I do occasionally ride with some of the Trek store froups but this was a solo effort!
JamminTX : One day at a time! I got into it during covid times. Started with 5 or 10 miles on the greenbelt and built up from there.
LemonEye : Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa Www.ragbrai.com Hey, if you like biking that much, you need to put this on your bucket list! It a great time. Haven't done it myself but know a lot who have and know people who have hosted bikers in their homes!
SteveT : LemonEye: Several of us from this area rode RAGBRAI a few years ago. We found Iowans, especially in the host cities, to be very welcoming and hospitable. The ride has been described as "a totally different cultural experience that involves some cycling," which we found to be accurate. Referred to by some as "spring break for grown-ups." As a bonus there were some good free concerts in the overnight towns. « Back to Chat
