Everyone I know in the restaurant industry is struggling to stay open these days. Revamping and remodeling is not on anyone's radar or budget, right now. For those of us that have lived here half a century, we are very grateful Chelsea's has survived. We native KW residents all wax nostalgic missing Chezzies Ice Cream, Ol' Timers, Cliff's, Dairy Princess, Pagoda, Casa Elena, Pop's, Mencius….
If you can afford to eat out, please keep supporting our few remaining, but long existing, Mom & Pop establishments; Hunan Garden, J. Christopher's, and Chelsea's.

cardinalsong: me too ! I don't look around anymore . About 10 yrs ago I went in and asked the owners if they needed help to clean the place . They denied needing me and did it themselves but you see what we got
grinchy : Yep, Moved here in 74'. Until KCC opened it seemed like the only places to eat out in Kingwood was Dairy Princess, Pagoda, and Bill's cafe. Forgotten to mention in my comment above, that Bill's has been around forever and still open. We are afraid some of our out of state relatives will stop visiting if Chelsea's goes out of business; for 41 years having a super po-boy and tub of chicken salad waiting for them upon their arrival is something they expect and look forward to.
JamminTX : My family moved to FC in 1970! My sister now lives and Dallas and takes chicken salad home with her when she visits.

Theoldman : That place was amazing...loved the breakfast (especially the biscuits and hash browns) and the California Chicken Sandwich.
They still have a can asking for donation for a College Kid that had a very bad car accident , in 2004

Their chicken salad on croissant is my favorite. I watched a young lady who was clearly feeling ill vomit outside the front entrance a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed to see the vomit still there the following morning 🤢

Chelsea's Deli--I know it's been there forever and I really enjoy their food, but it's really looking pretty run down inside. All those cartons in the back in full view, the rest rooms haven't been updated in decades. Given how much business they get, I wish they would update and clean up.
cardinalsong : It was like that 20something years ago when we moved here. I think it could be a nice place, but, it is so congested with junk it's not relaxing to go there to eat. It seems like they closed for brief amounts of time over the years saying they were remodeling, but, I never saw any difference when they reopened besides maybe some shelving moved. Maybe they need someone to go in a reorganize for them.
I just can't eat at or from that place. If they care so little about cleaning the areas that the public can see, what do the areas the public can't see, like the kitchen, look like? No, there's no way I'm eating anything prepared in that very dirty and messy place.
Ticagro : It's been years since we have been there. The thought of how the kitchen must look keeps me away. I do however, like the food and would go if they cleaned it up. « Back to Chat
