Yep you need a dog license in Harris Co. I did them for a while but when they started to pass and I foster failed new ones I never got the license
Actually I am supposed to have licenses here too but haven't- I keep forgetting

mutton : Yes. If you live in unincorporated Harris County the same requirements apply except it applies to dogs and cats 3 months and older. In the City of Houston it applies to dogs and cats 4 months and older.

Be glad that the HOA's don't impose pet fees. God knows if they thought they could get away with it they would.

1836 : I've had pets all my life and knew about this. I don't believe it's intuitive for new pet owners though. Somehow the 2 vets I've used in Kingwood always managed to provide this with the rabies tag. It seems like part of the vet's job should be to educate pet owners, not just sell them a lot of testing and vaccines. Just my opinion. I've been fortunate to have had excellent vets, too. Oddly, it's my responsibility to have my pets vaccinated, but my vet takes care of that, too.

The city and county have much bigger issues to enforce. I seriously doubt the Puppy Police will be dispatched to enforce this.

OBSD68 : Years ago a vet I used warned me that there was registration and fee. I forget who since they soon retired after.
