Also, the kid's parents will definitely sue, but they are equally guilty with negligence, child endangerment given that their kid was the catalyst, unsupervised, trespassing, etc.
FRUGAL, BettyCrocker and cbear + 8 more reacted living in KW, you probably don't. living in the area of the incident, you Might feel differently. This may Not be the first time the homeowner has been in fear, due to someone at his door. That does not happen, Nearly as often, in Kingwood,
In our area, most everyone has security systems and multiple cameras so they can easily assess what or who is at the door without going near it.

LittleTexas : In this case, the homeowner wasn't met with deadly force on the other side of the door, so Castle Doctrine/Stand Your Ground might not apply. Had the kid been armed and in a threatening stance it could be different. Again, fawning over this "child" playing an innocent game is too much. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I honestly think it's a near 50/50 fault situation.
An ADULT tries to kill him
Yes, you are right! We are getting the 'dirty side' of the local news, with All of these crimes reported. Though maybe Not in KW, we all Know we need to stay vigilant, and for some, that may mean being armed. This is the world we live in, today. I lament the change, and Wish it was as it was, back in the day. In reality, it is Very Not! If any of you have ever Lived in an high crime area, you'd know that their fear is very credible, as is Ours here in this area, now.

petronoluem : I quoted it because the media is portraying him as completely 100% innocent. If quotes are your beef here, then you have completely missed the point. He's not off limits when it comes to assessing blame. He caused the entire incident.
Times are dif.
In that area, gunshots, probably a few times a week, are the norm. Here, we hear fireworks on occasion, and think it "might" be a firearm. Everyone wishes this homeowner did not take this action, but We were not at his home, at 11pm, that night.

I have lived and hung out in REAL, not imagined "high" crime areas. There is no reason to fire away at imagined threats to life.

donnatella : Over 30 years ago we had a knock and run. I was definitely not too scared to run out door and chase the little boogers so could chew them out. Which I did... Times are dif.
