Agree with more seafood places, I feel like we have enough good BBQ places here. I would also like to see some Indian or Middle Eastern restaurants come here.

Many moons ago in Illinois we lived in apartment above an Indian prince and friends attending college nearby and they cooked Indian food all day long. We haven't been able to handle curry since !.

billcherie2 : And not a chain. Prefer a local place with great fried catfish and hushpuppy recipes.

I think you are spot on with this. If they have a pt luck they all go to the grocery store and order pre cooked food. If they are in charge of fruit, they buy it all prepared.

One son has an Indian friend with a restaurant, and his wife cooks there. I can eat all the restaurant food. But a couple times she made us food at home, and it was just too spicy for me. A lot of "ethnic" restaurants tone down and "Americanize" their native cuisine.

That may be so. My DH and I had friends that lived in the Southeast of Houston, and we would often go to the Indian and Mediterranean restaurants in their area when we visited them. They seemed authentic, and were delicious, but it's possible they were toned down or Americanized.

There are good options for both of these cuisines, in and near Spring, and The Woodlands. There is also a spot called Mezze, in Conroe, that is very good Middle Eastern food, and nice decor and service.

I remember the Indian place we went to was named Darbar, and it was so good, we miss it when we have a craving for some Indian food. I forget the name of the Mediterranean place we liked, though.
