Sometimes people get too comfortable in their surroundings and don't realize how vulnerable they are. I never leave anything in my car and carry very lightly in my purse. Not paranoid but very precautious. I've been carjacked before in my earlier years but it'll never happen to me again.

That parking lot has been ripe for the picking for many years. They used to have a sign in the lobby warning people to not leave valuables in their cars

I recall an article, years back, about a man in a southwest San Antonio barrio that put a pair of live rattlesnakes in his car every evening. He stopped when they started disappearing overnight and he couldn't find them.

It's crazy - there is always someone watching to see what you leave in your car. I tell my family to always take valuables or leave at home.
