Amadeus Restaurant Mother's Day disaster! Took my BW out Satur

Greenwich: They did nothing for us . You did the right thing in just taking off and never come back, I know we won't . This place is overrated .

Cstomio123 : You couldn't be more wrong about me, and you don't know me at all. I do not work there and never have, but you however, sound like a former disgruntled employee since you use the term "always" and refer to the staff and kitchen area with such distain. I'm a long-time customer of both restaurants who has received excellent service over the years, and have gone to both restaurants many times, enough to be familiar with the owners and staff. I can't help that you don't appreciate both places have very loyal followings. And, BTW, I didn't keep him from speaking his peace and I didn't try to cover up anything. I was there last night as a customer, with my family. I know what I saw last night right and added perspective to the harsh review without addressing the issues with management at the time, which would have been an easy solution to the problem the OP had during his visit.

Also, I noticed something was different from the norm, last night, with the martini, and I just asked the server a simple question. He has been our server several times before so he knows we weren't out to blast them over it. In fact I prefaced it by saying "this is a question, and NOT a complaint…" That's how we learned it was different and why. Again, I ordered another, so different isn't always a bad thing.

Holiday celebrations should be a good experience. Unfortunately restaurants cannot always keep up with demands. Perhaps you could give Amedeos a second chance on a non holiday. Everyone should get a second chance. Amedeos has long been a favorite for our family. Occasionally something may be a bit off but always delicious.

We do not go out on holidays ever - we celebrate a day early or a day late as we have little tolerance for crazy crowds.

Hmmm! I didn't think my review was "very harsh!" I didn't criticize any person & I didn't make a scene complaining! I paid the bill, left a 18% tip (even though, the "service" didn't justify it), and left! Just the facts!

Greenwich : You criticized the manager based upon appearance alone and made assumptions as an excuse for not having a conversation. Quietly and discretely addressing your concerns with him would have given him and his staff an opportunity to resolve your issues, make you happy, and avoided a negative public review. You never gave them a chance to fix what you didn't like.

ILoveReading : I learned this the hard way. We've only been to Amadeo's once. It was on Valentines Day some years ago. They had an extremely limited Valentines day special menu, which is my fault that I didn't know that beforehand. I thought the food was just OK, and at least back then the place looked ready for a refresh.
I've heard so many good things about the place before and since that I'd like to go back and give them another try, since I do agree with the comments from ILoveReading that a restaurant is rarely at their best on a holiday. Unfortunately my wife is unwilling to go again. She'd rather go to Italianos.
We do go to Raffa's on the river sometimes. I believe the owner of Raffa's also owns Amadeos. It's odd that Raffas in my opinion is such a bright and sparkling place, while I remember Amadeos being dark and somewhat dingy looking.
One day I hope to convince the wife to give Amadeos another try. I know this thread has gotten a bit feisty but I think everyone on here has a valid opinion, although the opinions differ widely. Regardless, Happy Mothers Day to all the moms!

Well said. We don't usually try to eat out on a holiday either because of the crowds, wait time, etc. I do wish Amedeo's would have at least a little "face lift" - it's time.
I do want to ask when the last time you went to Italiano's was. We recently went to the one on Northpark and the food was awful. I was so disappointed since we have had so many good meals there. It started with reheated and burned bread. My chicken parm was so tough I could not cut it - it had obviously been reheated too. And my husband said his meal didn't taste the same. I did receive a message from the owner/manager but have tried to call several times and only get the answering machine. Next time we ate out, we ordered a pizza from J. Christopher's. It was so bad, we threw it away. It was nothing like it used to be (and that had been fixed on our previous order).
We are starting to wonder if consistency and quality are a thing of the past...I sure hope not.
