HAHA just a forest. I wonder what that person thinks of the Woodlands. They have so many trees you can't even see the street signs in some areas.
Just a forest people live in… I saw this posted in a Houston chat group elsewhere…funny to see a perspective of Kingwood from someone else: " It's crazy to me that North Houston is just a forest This is a dumb post but I've grown up in the city my whole life and there's barely any greenery (I just mean in the direct area where I live, obviously there's parks and stuff) and I know Houston isn't really a place for outdoorsy types, but I've always been interested in exploring the nature around here I recently visited a friend in Kingwood for the first time and driving through there was just so crazy bc it's literally just a forest that people live in lmao. Trees everywhere. Just tall *** trees that blot out the sun as far as the eye can see it's so amazing. Ik it sounds dumb but it's wild to me that this place that's just the complete opposite of where I live is so close. Seems like a great quiet place to live and raise a family idk "
Just gonna say I'm in SW Trails in KW and these beautiful trees provide fresh air and shade, a home for all the birds that come by everyday and my cooling bill is only $150 per month with the upgrades we've made. It's just stupid to clear cut all the new subdivisions.
It's true. It IS a beautiful location. It's not without its issues that we all wish could be improved. But that's how life is. There's no perfect places. This one has a natural beauty with all these trees and vegetation.
We moved here from San Antonio

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : So did we. We looked in Spring, Woodlands and KW. My wife and kids voted for KW, and the rest is history. And we're still here 35 years later.
I love the description and reaction. The home finding center was still upfront when I moved here 28 years ago. Much has changed but it still is the best place around. The Woodlands doesn't compare.
CaffeineFree : We checked out Spring and the Woodlands too and it just did not feel right. There is so much traffic in those areas and from KW it only takes hubby 20 minutes to get to work. I love the trees and quiet here in KW.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I told my DW that we needed to be close to IAH because I had a heavy travel schedule, so one the 3 areas would have worked. But I would deal with 59 over 45, so I was happy with the choice of KW.
How funny, seems everyone's process in choosing Kingwood mirrors ours. We moved here in 2010. I came from NY, my wife from Costa Rica. Houston is a 3:30 flight to see family in NY, and 3:40 to see family in Costa Rica. We're right halfway between the two. Houston was warm, it was affordable and since I worked for a local airline, I could be based here and work here at Bush. It was perfect.
There are two "pilot ghetto's" (as we jokingly called them) in the Houston area - Kingwood and The Woodlands. We went to look at The Woodlands first. I knew within 5 minutes that it was WAY too busy for me. Too much traffic, too much "keeping up with the Joneses" for my taste. Also, I had no real appetite for dealing with the daily gridlock on 45 every day. The amenities are nicer in The Woodlands, but I wasn't willing to pay the price of dealing with the traffic every day. Plus, at the time I figured equivalent housing in The Woodlands was roughly 30% - 40% higher than in Kingwood.
The next day we came to Kingwood and we were sold within the first 30 minutes. It's probably the best decision we've made. We're very happy here. It's quiet. The traffic is much less than in The Woodlands. We've had two houses here, both of which we like(d) very much. The trails system is wonderful. If we had to do it all over again we certainly would wind up in Kingwood again.

I would rather deal with traffic around here than the Woodlands. Plus, has anyone drove there at night ? They do not have many street lights around some neighborhoods. I have trouble seeing at night and then tinted window, bad combo.

I moved here 34 years ago. Butler loved Kingwood the minute we saw it. 150 families had moved to Kingwood right before we started looking. I really wanted a brand new house because we were going to be somewhere else in 3 years. Butler got transferred to a plant in Baytown and he just wanted to stay in Kingwood. I agreed because our kids were doing so well here in Kingwood. Kingwood is not as nice as it once was, but I still look at all the beautiful trees every time I go out and about.
I have never gone blind to the trees. I really love trees.
