My driveway is full of ice. It's really not safe to do a lot of walking outside today.

goldie : Upper management is there at Ace. I believe the need for them to be open is legit due to people needing products to secure their home during the ice and snow.

FreebyrdII : Makes sense. Reminds me of Covid onset...essential workers.

Businesses Open in Kingwood today. If you know of any post here to support our local businesses. I'll start. Coco Crepes on Kingwood Dr by HEB is open! if you brave the roads stop by for some food and goodies!

zuesamy : sorry, that is stupid for a local shop to be open today. Why put yourself in danger or employees. Even the big box stores should close...we are not equipped to drive in this kind of weather. That is nuts...if you chose to go out y'all be safe. I am having my coffee at home and stay by the fire.

It costs way more to lose your vehicle in an accident than missing one day of work.

SummerSneeze : exactly! you can lose more than a day or work and your vehicle. You could lose your life or kill someone in the process. We are not equipped to drive in this stuff. Stay home and be safe. :-)

I think it's so irresponsible for shops to open today when ALL reports encouraged everyone to stay home and off the roads. For goodness sakes, the airports shut down! It's bad enough for first responders to be out there but a retail establishment/restaurant encouraging people to be out and stop in? I feel sorry for the employees. If it's not an essential service, they should've closed. And I won't be taking my business to them. Today with the snow on the ground isn't that bad, I get it. But the sun will come out, melt it, and then we hit deep-freeze again where it will turn to ice. So maybe "it's not so bad today" people will be out in full force tomorrow when it driving conditions will be bad.

Just remember that if anyone uses Door Dash or any delivery service for an establishment that is currently open to PLEASE tip well. I know from both my boy's experiences during high school and college, that many people tend to tip extra well under weather related events.

olemiss1968 : Those type of businesses I try not to use if weather is like it was this morning. I would feel absolutely horrible if I had someone out in what was this morn and there was an accident!
