It would be good if you could share this volunteer opportunity with the high schools. When my kids were in high school, they needed service hours if they belonged to such clubs as NHS and Key Club.
Maybe for the protection of the volunteers, sections of Kingwood Dr should be shut down to vehicular traffic while this project progresses along with doing this on a more regular basis. Maybe it will **** enough people off, they'll quit throwing their trash out on to our streets.
CBloch : It is great he is trying to get this done but I always thought the COH and the hoa's were supposed to maintained those areas. Why is that not being done already?

Toohot : HOA doesn't maintain most city of Houston medians. They do handle the trails/greenbelts, and some parks that are not city or county parks.

I am on the Board of the Bear Branch Trail Association and I read the Association Charter which was written by Friendswood Development. It states the Trail Association is responsible for maintaining half the medians of Kingwood Drive, Woodland Hills Drive, Northpark Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway which are on the boundaries of the greenspaces managed by the Association. I checked, and the Charters of all of the other Trail and/or Community Associations all include requirements for each Association to maintain the entries, parks, community rooms and pools within their respective neighborhoods. In the rest of Houston, neighborhoods not built by developers like Friendswood Development, have parks, pools and community rooms built and maintained by the COH. In these neighborhoods such amenities are not kept up like the ones here in Kingwood. The reason for this is Friendswood Development set it up for the deeds of properties here in Kingwood include a provision for assessments must be paid to Community and Trail Associations Friendswood set up for each neighborhood for such maintenance. Annexation and the COH had nothing to do with this. Their were a lot of residents that were not happy about being annexed by the COH even though it was a predetermined event before Kingwood was ever built. Friendswood Development had to get the approval of the COH to develop Kingwood, Kingwood is in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City. Look at all of the manhole covers Friendswood put in as Kingwood was built. They all say City of Houston. There are neighborhoods in the COH where the residents Associations continue to maintain their medians, but Kingwood is not one of them. This is a decision Kingwood residents have made, it was not a decision nade by the City of Houston. If you want Kingwood to look like it did before annexation, get over the fact that Kingwood was annexed and step up and make your neighborhood what you want it to be. If you don't want to volunteer or pay higher assessments to your HOAs and Trail Associations, that is your decision, not a decision by the COH, but if you feel that way, don't complain about the conditions in your neighborhood.

FatCop : Yes it sure does and shouldn't some of our HOA dues pay for that or our maintenance dues. They want you to pay dues and they want you to pay HOA fees, but then they want you to do the work yourself.
KSA was and is only responsible for the entries to Kingwood on KW Drive and Northpark. KSA is also responsible for River Grove Park, East End Park and the Creekwood Nature Area. KSA does own the athletic fields in Kingwood, but those fields are mostly maintained by baseball and soccer league organizations. All of the medians in Kingwood were to be maintained by either neighborhood or business Associations. The good looking medians near Town Center are maintained by the Association of the businesses in that area. That Association has elected to continue to maintain those medians. It has nothing to do with KSA.
So, is Bear Branch Trail Association supposed to have kept half the central median cleared and mowed? If so, you need to refund $$ to residents for not getting the job done
sweetie : The medians (aka esplanades) are COH property and SHOULD BE maintained by them. Some HOAs have spent their own funds (your and others' money) to do what COH is neglecting.
ExCTGuyInTX : COH treats Kingwood like a distance step cousin. They really don't do anything for us
