Well at least you can threaten your DH you have a good place to put his body if you decide to kill him 😂
I'm an earth person. I can literally feel the earth sway and heave. I grew up in coal country. You could walk down a hill one day on a perfect sidewalk and the next, it's heaved, sunk and buckled and the houses are twisted. I worked in a fourth floor office building and I could feel the building move up and down. Same happened in Trinidad Colorado. I was standing in a shop and asked the guy behind the counter and my dh if they felt the movement. My dh did not and they guy tells me, he's heard others say the same. It too is an old coal mining town. Lots of voids in the earth.
As for ant hills, in Florida we had one that literally went under the road. One day I'd boil them with vinegar, salt and boiling water, the next day my neighbor across the street would have to treat a mound, and back again. Btw, ants make funeral mounds with the dead. After 4 years, I never made a dent. My neighbor borrowed a hose to do the same. The hose was put in a hole she found in the drive under her car. The water shot out a hole behind her house. The next week we found one. Ours went from the drive, under the garage and under the pool deck.
Took my mom and one of her friends to see that sink hole about 7-8 years ago. Almost got arrested because those women wanted to get closer. Made a song about that trip. That particular sink hole was caused by excessive dumping of salt water/ well waste in to a regulated salt dome. This is governed by the TCEQ. This gentleman had 2 sets of records and exceeded his legal capacity to dump in well. BOOM the salt dome under ground was eroded enough to collapse and become a sink hole. If I remember correctly the offender did like 5 years state jail time and a fine.

Next time instead of using all that water just boil water in a tea kettle and pour it on the mound. Repeat several times and the ants will die all the way down. I hate those dang ants.

I know someone who I believe the placement of it is between the homes. The other neighbor had a tree cut near & the tree was hollow in the middle. I have noticed terrain changing.
