WTF : If it was me, trim the branches that are brushing up against your house and/or siding. Cockroaches use plants to get into your house as tree branches wiping your house when the wind gets high.
No branches touch the house yet. It just looks like it from this angle. Thanks for the advice, though.
Lots of leaves but zero acorns!
It looks like it needs thinned from that photo.
It's a pretty tree.
The oak I have is dropping 3 inch long brown pollen laden stringy things. It kills my allergies.

WTF: Did you ever have trees planted on the strip of grass adjacent to the street?
I did. They were Live Oaks. I didn't want the sidewalks shifting, so I got rid of them.

No way am I thinning it. I don't want to lose this look and the grass grows fine underneath.
WTF : Maybe . . . I looked online for more information about your very fine laurel oak tree. One comment about laurel oaks, which seem to be in the family of red oaks, was that they can start producing acorns as early as 15 years. I was interrupted and did not read more about laurel oaks. I think you said your laurel oak is 12 years old. So you might begin to see acorns from that tree in three or four years. We had to wait years and years before our citrus trees produced fruit. Maybe it is like that with laurel oaks and acorns, just even more years?
It wasn't zero years old when I planted it. It was several years old already. I was told no acorns. I guess we'll have to see.
