Power out…again. My husband and I work from home and require stable internet/power. Do you think there is any chance the electric company can compensate us for loss of business?
Our power isn't out thankfully but I worked this weekend and daytime television is horrible. I used to work remotely and had to go to another location to work because of the freeze and sudden link and ixfinty were all down. I was fortunate because my corporate office was in Plano and they kept losing power and internet service too and we got paid for the day regardless. It's barely raining though I've witnessed power outages during the summer in Kingwood with no wind/rain. I've heard that all the power lines are old and poor coverage with the trees ( what's left for now) Good luck but I would venture out for a couple hours and great coffee somewhere with free WiFi.
A whole house generator is very expensive and expensive to maintain. If your livelihood depends on home internet, you may need to consider Tachus plus generator combo. In 2024 you can't depend on the power supply.

ExCTGuyInTX : Question for you - when the power goes out, and your generator kicks on, I'm assuming there is enough time that your modem and router go down and have to reboot once the generator has taken over? Or do you have the modem and router on a battery? Just curious.

If the power isn't out then the internet & cable are a lot of time in Kingwood but since I moved to Humble area last Spring, we only lost internet/cable in the area because of the freeze. I miss living in Kingwood but I'm there almost daily because my youngest daughter goes to KHS but I'm not missing the "why is the power/internet/cable outages, etc. Last week, KHS's power was out too.
probably not
