The whole country's suffering from excessive heat. 😢😢😢

justanirishgirl : Actually that's not true. I have family in Tennessee. They have had cooler temperatures and rain this summer.

My poor 14 year old had to play in a baseball showcase today. As a catcher! And on turf! I felt so bad for him but he said he didn't think it was that bad at all. He's been conditioned for this weather for a while now because of football

>> StormChaser : Someone told me the only way we will get rain now is a hurricane ? What are your thoughts

Rocklady2020 : Well, tropical moisture would sure be nice, but even hurricanes can't navigate high-pressure systems. If a storm were to form in the gulf right now, it would go east or south of here, around the high.

High pressure needs to retreat back to Arizona (which is normally where it is right now) which gives them their monsoon season and gives us some rain chances and more normal highs temps.

That's not to say that a hurricane can't or won't sneak in here once that high finally retreats for good (which it should do). That would certainly give us the rain we desperately want but maybe too much of a good thing......

Feast or famine.

StormChaser : Your are exactly right about that High pressure dome. It needs to move west so we can both get rain and normal high temps- though we are only getting to 101 today- big change from the 115 plus.

I really do feel bad for all y'all the high heat PLUS that humidity is brutal. At least ours is a dry heat

Yep, but has SCW points out, we're over the hump and astronomical changes WILL be changing the weather sooner rather than later. Both the length of day and intensity (angle) of sunlight are decreasing and this will alter our weather patterns before much longer.
