Lizvac :
Not to worry i travel frequently throughout the greenbelts here in Kingwood and observe everyone and everything and i will tell you that the vast majority of people young and old are very friendly and approachable. With that said i have come across a couple of knuckleheads that once engaged in a civil manner become friendly. I for one never give in to evil!

seanm2 : What do you mean why? It's none of their business or anyone else's as long as he's not breaking the law. You don't have to have a reason to follow the law.

1836 : I ain't no legal expert but I'll bet the "why" is because it's an uncommon scenario and there have been recent reports of armed robbery in the green belt. I'm not saying the guy should be arrested, just that the police are justified for wanting to know what's going on when such an uncommon scenario arises amongst such recent events.

1836 : Police are here to protect public safety…plenty of room in Austin for people who don't want Police around.

doddlebug : I totally agree which is why I think it's silly to waste resources by sending them to a call where no crimes are being committed. Total waste of time. Emoticon

Yes because that will certainly keep you safe. Carrying a rifle is legal. I have one and wear a hoodie.

Heathur : Walking around a white collar neighborhood at 1030AM on a Monday wearing a hoodie and carrying a, presumably, loaded rifle is beyond suspicious. Sure it's legal, but it's way off base and freaking odd for my neck of the 'burbs. Also, I sure as **** don't want my kid riding bikes in an area where some rando is openly carrying a freaking hunting rifle (WTF?!?) with no real rhyme or reason for it. Plus there is zero way of safely finding out if the dude is a "good guy" with a gun or a nutjob. I'll 100% call the cops on someone like that every single time. If he was out in the sticks during deer season, it would be a different story...

SorryInAdvance : I sure hope it's loaded, otherwise what's the point? Why does everyone keep emphasizing that he was wearing a hoodie? They're just normal clothes for a good percentage of the population these days regardless of where they're at or what they're doing. Even in your "white collar" bubble (that sounds really pretentious btw). You can typically tell if someone's good or bad by their behavior and mannerisms. If y'all are worried about people waving knives in women's faces, starting arson related fires, and now someone you're scared of walking around with a rifle in that area, then maybe you shouldn't let your kids ride around unsupervised. That's a lot of crime happening in a safe little white collar suburb if you ask me. A guy minding his business possibly even patrolling the area would would probably make me feel safer considering the crimes y'all have had being committed as of late.

Heathur: I'm guessing the hoodie was mentioned because the original post mentioned on the greenbelt which sounded similar to the one the lady was hurt. I'm wondering why there are two different stories here. In the original post the police were there and told the walkers to leave. Then later it was posted he was walking down Gladehill. So how and why were the police involved in the beginning?

Heathur : If i see someone carrying a rifle on the greenbelt Im gonna tell him to take that stupid **** home. Patrolling? LOL thats so silly.

ZMAN : At least you'd talk to him instead of clutching your pearls and running to post about it making dumb *** speculations. There are a million reasons he could've had it. Bought it from a neighbor and was walking it home, left it at a girlfriends house and was taking it back to his place, he wanted a firearm for safety while he walked and that was his pick of the litter, hell maybe his rifle just needed some air but to make a mountain out of a molehill when dude was lawfully minding his business is too much imo.

peppermintstick :
I have no idea, but what I do know is that nosy neighbors call in so many unnecessary calls that it drives officers insane and is typically a waste of time and resources. I get to hear about it firsthand. I wear hoodies all the time (all of them are black) and if I'm not wearing one I keep them in both vehicles in case I get cold. I'm always carrying a gun and honestly there's a good chance that there's a rifle in my vehicle as well. It's just something we do. When we go to friends houses (most of whom are in Kingwood) the boys will all take apart their rifles, trade gun parts or add on their newest additions. Like I keep saying, this is Texas. Some of us buy and handle guns like others buy clothes or shoes.
