Not a good start to the day grrrrrrr
Not a good start to the day grrrrrrr Dh insisted on toasted pecans with his oatmeal……..just haaaaad to have em…….so being the amazing, wonderful, thoughtful wife I am, I open a two pound bag & proceed to toast half a bag. In my haste to speed up the process I placed the pan in oven during preheating. A HUGE NO NO (as the preheat setting involves the top broiler) So, I go to make the bed as they slowly toast. The minute I smelled the pecans from the bedroom (a long way from kitchen) I knew I'd done it again! Went running into kitchen thinking to myself please god let me find them golden brown, not burnt. Sigh

Oh no! Multi-tasker brain event! I did this not long ago, when I put a pizza in the oven ,and I was sure I had set the timer, but I hadn't… so the next thing I knew I was smelling burned pepperoni. Sorry the pecans burned.

Ruger5 : I'm sorry! That can happen really fast. At least it looks like there are enough for your hubby's oatmeal. I have to say I do love toasted pecans with my oatmeal along with some butter, milk, and brown sugar.

Ruger5 : I'm sorry that happened, and it was a waste of pecans for you. I don't know if you set a timer on the oven as a reminder, but I have a back up one that is louder than the oven just in case I have to step away for a bit.

CatalinaD : it was more an issue of dummy me placing pecans in the oven during the preheat cycle which involves the upper broiler. I certainly should have known better! 
FRUGAL: dip them in chocolate?
