I love Thomas Massie's response, "you need gold to buy diesel now, so maybe it is the golden age".
Republican congressman says ground beef is 'less than $2 a pound.' It's actually almost $7 a pound.
Story by Dave Jamieson • 18h • 2 min read Republican Congressman Says Ground Beef Is 'Less Than $2 A Pound.' It's Actually Almost $7 A Pound.
Rep. Tom Emmer needs to tell the rest of us where he gets his groceries. The Minnesota Republican appeared Wednesday morning on Fox Business and declared that beef prices had dropped to a level that may have shocked some viewers. "We still have work to do, there's no question," Emmer said, downplaying the recent spike in inflation. "But eggs are at pre-pandemic prices. Beef is at less than $2 a pound for ground beef."
In reality, the price of ground beef has shot up to nearly $7 a pound and shows no signs of retreating. Prices have risen steadily since the pandemic, with recent increases driven in large part by a historically small domestic cattle herd. Despite Emmer's rosy take on the situation, it's been roughly 23 years since ground beef cost less than $2 per pound on average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. HuffPost reached out to Emmer's office to see if he misspoke, and if not, whether he would share the name of his ground beef supplier. A spokesperson did not immediately respond Wednesday. Rising inflation poses a major liability for President Donald Trump and other Republicans heading into the midterm elections this fall. Although the underlying factors pushing up beef prices predate his presidency, surging fuel prices caused by his war of choice in Iran have put the rising cost of living front of mind for many voters. www.msn.com/en-us/mo ney/general/republic an-congressman-says- ground-beef-is-

LMAO. I get real Lucille Bluth/Arrested Devleopment vibes from all of this. "it's one banana, Michael, how much could it cost? 10 dollars?"
#msg6011915At least I'm not driving to intercourse, or nowhere.
