In case you missed my op-ed in the Chronicle today, I believe partisanship has no place in flood mitigation. Neither does Mayor Whitmire.

Thank you for sharing this article, for keeping us updated and informed, and for all the hard work that you do for our community. I really like Mayor Whitmire, and I'm glad for all of the great things he is doing for our city and the residents here in Kingwood.
Thank you Bob for staying engaged and keeping us updated.
Thank you! Hopefully getting the Mayors attention will help this issue.
Ok, I'll bite.

...village HOAs have yet to address all the Beryl storm debris and similar overgrowth on our greenbelts, and we are 1.5 years past that storm...
KSA has very little in the way of greenbelt (if any at all) that they manage.
BobRehak : Whitmires the best mayor we've ever had!

ExCTGuyInTX : Yep, KSA now only maintains our parks, the individual village HOAs manage the stretch of greenbelt that are in each Subdivision. Stretches of Bear Branch and Kings Forest greenbelts are still littered with Beryl debris. Almost every village's greenbelts have invasive vines and overgrowth issues that are weakening and killing existing trees, similar to what we see on the medians. I report the worst of what I see, nothing ever happens, since most villages have outsourced their HOAs to property mgmt companies.
My village MBV does not have a separate trail board nor a separate trail fee. All MBV assessments cover 'normal' community things like the pool, park, common areas, entrances PLUS greenbelt maintenance.
Most villages have trail boards separate from their HOAs and have two or more villages on the trail boards. Ex. Greentree/Sand Creek Trail Association and SEGTA (Sherwood Trails/Elm Grove). Homeowners in those villages pay not only the HOA $500+ fees but about $125+ for the trails.

ExCTGuyInTX : If you are that connected, I sure would appreciate you bringing up the remaining Beryl debris and overgrowth choking and killing trees on the entire greenbelt system. We ride the trails extensively all over Kingwood, and we are just waiting for certain diseased and vine covered trees/branches to snap and fall on a biker, jogger, or walker. They are exceptionally dangerous after a heavy rain.
I suggest then that people attend a KSA Public Safety meeting, the Trail and HOA board meetings in those villages that have the issues and express those concerns yourself.
This is a problem in so many times, people want someone else to express those concerns on their behalf instead of taking it on themselves.
Letting the appropriate people know exactly where these concerns are will at least alert them to those concerns.
Not all storm debris is necessarily removed. If the storm debris does not pose a potential hazard and is only aesthetically unpleasing, the cost/benefit of that removal may not warrant it.
