One very important pro: The Texas Medical Center. I feel very fortunate to live in Houston because of MD, Anderson, the best in the world.

No city is perfect but Houston is going downhill fast according to media. Poor government overreach, too many sports venues, poor infrastructure, etc., etc.

I would agree with the pros and the cons. I would also agree that we do have a really great Med Center here, and good options for Arts and Entertainment.

Houston is a work camp. You move there, build your resume, get the promotion, put half a mill in the bank and then move to a more desirable area.The primary problems with Houston are that nobody treats the city like a permanent residence, it's just a transient area, a chapter in their life's story.

Radio stations suck.

Too much emphasis on sports and not enough on cultural. Look at what happened to the Astrodome - all that money spent and then wasted on a wonder of the world.

I think housing is actually a pro. Kingwood, The Woodlands, Friendswood, etc. are communities in their own right with quality schools, moderately affordable housing, and great amenities. We're currently looking at houses in San Antonio, and there are no equivalent neighborhoods at all. I think if you desire a community with everything needed for a family or even in later phases of life, Houston really has it.

Very true, people should concentrate and contribute to long lasting community life and speak up when things are not managed the way they should be.Houston is a great city, the Woodlands , Kingwood etc are great places to live with beautiful homes and a cozy community feel, we all have to work on protecting these places .
Yes Houston is a big crowded city but with the right leadership can be a great place to live and work,cannot just give up on it.
