Clearly I don't have one. I'm not against anyone getting one. 20 feet from my back door seems like a bit much.

valentine14 : Is it on the property line?They wouldn't let us put it behind our detached garage bc of that.Ours is on the side of of detached garage. My kitchen windows are not far and it's not loud at all but we have insulated windows.

Location of the generator isn't a simple "put it there" decision. Distance from utilities and windows dictate the location.

COH has regulations on how far from the house, the windows, and the property line. You would need to reach out to the management company for Bear Branch for any specifics on HOA regulations and restrictions.

If it's like our configuration, the gas meter is located at the back of house just off the original little patio. The electrical panel is on the back of the garage.
So, our generator is behind the garage, elevated on a taller platform and about 2 feet away from the wall.
There are rules about how far from the house, from the electrical connections, how deep for the lines, etc.
Our back easement floods in heavy rains, hence the raised platform.

Plant some thick shrubbery to help block the noise.
Ask him to also on his side of the fence.

My neighbor has one and it's behind his garage which is next to our fence and he has it set to run on Sunday afternoons. I think it does it for like 10 minutes yet it's annoying but I mean I'm OK with it. It's like 10 minutes. Do like another person says and put some shrubbery by the fence see if that helps muffle the noise. I mean, if I could afford one I'd probably put mine there too.
