Have you lived in a large city? Worked in downtown Houston maybe? This is I-10 West at Woodway; yes there was a fender bender, but with the go home traffic beginning… well, these poor folks are gonna Be there awhile! I do Not miss the heavy traffic of the big city. Have you lived it?

LittleTexas : I work from home 100%. I do not miss the commute. Couldn't be happier.
StormChaser : I am amazed that I Did do that! Of course, I had just graduated from college, was 22, and shared a home about 21 minutes from my work, with 2 other friends. I rode the Metro bus in to downtown, to and from work, each day, and the pick up spot was at the end of our block. Now, though, now way in Hades would I fight any part of that. Nay, Nay!
Texasdad : It's that 'spaghetti bowl' up in H-Town that it a true mess! Though Houston traffic is bad, I Really loathe having to drive or ride (even!) in Los Angeles; there never seems to be any 'down' time there, as we have here, here and there. It's just Always congested there. :0
Have you lived it?
LittleTexas : Yes. When I was not traveling out of town, I was driving all over Houston. Many days I put 100 miles on my car (thank goodness for company cars). I don't miss either kind of travel since I retired.

LittleTexas : I did for 23 years, to the Galleria and energy corridor. Left Kingwood at 05:00 so I mostly only dealt with bad traffic on the way home. It is not for the faint of heart.
LittleTexas : I used to drive alot for work. Now I work from home and stay in my bubble.
buffaloglenn : Oh, that Galleria area traffic! We used to really enjoy our weekends, when living in Houston, as we could go out to eat, listen to music, clubs, etc. There is an admin at work who lives in Hockley; she stays with her dil's Mom, who is a widow, and enjoys the company. 3 days a week, in the area. She tried driving back and forth each day, and just could Not do it. She is planning to retire in the next 3 years , so this works for her, for now. The traffic, or the Long drives to and from are not for me, either!
LittleTexas : Yes to both. I had lived and had a job downtown in my late twenties, and at the time it didn't seem too bad. I did commute to the city for my job when I moved out here, but once I found something else closer to home, I was glad. I really wouldn't want to have that commute again, especially now.
luannski : I am from a rural, I mean FFA Sweetheart kinda small country town in Texas. Loved growing up there, but could Not wait to move to the 'big city'. Have lived in 4 big cities, one of them overseas. Now, close to retiring, I would like to get back to 'kinda country living', in a nice 'town' with the basics there, and a reasonable commute to a larger town/small city/airport
