Sheldon state Park. Call and see if the "no license needed in a state lake" rule is still in effect. Otherwise you will need one, but kids fish free until age 17. And all fishing licenses expire on 8/31 of each year. I usually go to Academy. They sell them at walmart but most of the people there do not know what they are doing and are apt to give you the wrong papers.

Academy is the easiest place to get a license. Just go to the service desk, and they will help you. There are fishing guides on Lake Livingston, try Palmetto Guide Service; you can Google them ( Point Blank, TX, Lake Livingston), and see photos and reviews. There are others that will pop up, so you can make a choice, with a few to review. Have fun!

Lake houston wilderness park has a few ponds that have catfish that bit quite a bit. Galveston has the fishing piers that are sure to get something. If you can spring for a charter it's expensive but sure to make lots of memories for his birthday.

Galveston is a gamble, especially as hot as it has been. We fish often in that area, and Matagorda Bay, and apparently the Fish think it's too hot to come up for bait, too! For his first trip, I suggest lake fishing. You don't have to go out too far, and with a good guide who knows the lake, they can catch a lot, in fresh water, with shady areas the guide will know where they hide.

I also need a license because my baby girl will wanna participate and she will need my help! I will look into Sheldon state park! I appreciate you!

Yea, he's been blessed to do offshore fishing but in Lake Michigan v1kings28, sometime we will do a charter out of Galveston, but not just yet. I really think he wants to teach me what he knows! He's taken it quite seriously and for this kiddo to take anything seriously is a miracle! Lol. I grew up fishing with my Pops, so I hope these trips create good core memories for my little man!!! I appreciate the info and advice!!!

Chiza: salt water definitely! Not sure he needs a license at 10 years old, but Walmart sells them in the sporting goods section as does Academy and Bass Pro.

Every few years we go to Galveston and take the Bay Fishing trip. Lots a fun if you like to fish.
