New city ordinance could put an end to panhandling on road ways,
New city ordinance could put an end to panhandling on road ways, and loitering by homeless people. There will be a $500 fine. They say in the interview they weren't targeting panhandlers or homeless people bc it's purely a safety issue, and that medians and streets weren't meant for those activities. I've long been annoyed by panhandlers coming up to my vehicle and standing around in heavy traffic. Can I get an amen? MissAmericanPie : How is this going to put an end to panhandling on roadways? This proposed ordinance is about the medians between traffic lanes. It says nothing about the sides of the road or sidewalks next to the road.

If nothing else, it will provide a way for them to be taken in, and see that there Will be consequences. They Can stand at the wider part of a median; Ch 2 will have their report by Rilwan Balogun again at 10pm, and he has a tape measure out, showing How wide the median/area has to be.
1836 : The article specifically states they aren't trying to target panhandlers, so that tells me it will affect them and where they hang out. Example: the median at NP and WLHP in front of Kroger. They come out to your car from that median.
