Skilled Nursing

The Heights one is nice but out always. We use Encompass in Humble…they are excellent.

PAM in Humble for In-Patient and Out-Patient rehabilitation. In-Patient is when someone is being discharged from hospital. Novellus on Green Oak just south of Kingwood Dr. is nice. Although they are senior living I think they have a level of skilled nursing.

I had a good experience at Encompass with my dad and a not so good one at Fallbrook. That being said, it was 6 years ago and things change. Just be prepared that you have to be a constant advocate for your loved one. No one is going to care like you do.

muffy : I have learned to show up at unexpected times and do it frequently. I always know the entire staff - even the cleaning ladies. The cleaning ladies are sometimes the best friend that one can make as they know where the comfortable chairs are located!

Doddlebug50 : Do you know anyone who has had personal experience at the Heights? I wish Encompass were an option but patient is not up to three hours of PT a day. My aunt went to the Katy location and told her doc to arrange her second surgery so she was guaranteed a bed at the same location. Doc actually did as she asked!

I wouldn't send anyone to Park Manor Humble. My dad had to have IV antibiotics. They gave it to him overnight because it took so long. We came to find it was taking hours longer than it should because his port was clogged. I believe anywhere else would have realized it and reported it to the doctor. No, they gave it to him at night so it wouldn't interfere with their daily schedule.

Thanks for the reminder of that link! It has been very valuable in the past.I'm just a super control freak and would like to research the SN before it is "decision day" of where to go. I've never put it in the hands of the hospital social worker. Just not in my nature.

SIGirl : It has been more than 5 years since I've had a family member at Park Manor. I remember PT as terrific and the rest of the care lacking. Similar story? So sorry to read about the IV antibiotic trouble. I've done the IV antibiotics for friends and family and there is so much training to do in advance. I hate that it was done incorrectly. At least I was lucky to have an excellent instructor but I was also highly invested for them both.

It is good for assisted and memory care but I wouldn't recommend for skilled nursing.

My mom fell and broke her hip and they sent her to encompass in humble for physical therapy after surgery. She told them to transfer her to the one in the woodlands was better cause she could do physical therapy and skilled nursing there. Cause her husband was already at the one in the woodlands for being a patient so she got to join him. And she said everyone was nice. The one in humble only did physical therapy. My mom liked all the staff at the one in the woodlands and she said the food was better than the one in humble.
