Kingwood middle school had over 100 men volunteer to greet kids
Kingwood middle school had over 100 volunteers, mainly men, to greet kids today. I don't know if this is already a thread on here. Can you image the support the students felt walking into the school and being greeted. By dads, uncles, grandfathers, policeman, city counsel, etc? Of course women were greeting kids too. I bet it was a special day for the students. Those incoming 6th graders, probably so so nervous, suddenly being cheered on by community mentors. Kudos to KMS

MaineLady : it is blatantly unfair to have extra adults present on the first day of middle school. It puts a damper on a very important first day activity. It's a time to push the envelope to determine which behaviors would be squashed or tolerated during the new year.
ZMAN : That could be great! Hope those who are interested in something like this will work to organize it!
How about calling it 100 people instead of 100 men.
ZMAN : If, for example, male / dad participation in these types of events was low (seems probable), and so they tried to get more dads out to show their support through a push, I don't see any problem with it. « Back to Chat
