Service Repair for Ice Maker

Capybara : Good point. Yes, in my Mom's top freezer of refrigerator. (Not one that dispenses out the door but in bucket)

Zakangel: We have used him several times. He's good and he's honest.

Zakangel : Ours used to freeze up and I was usually able to use some warm water to defrost a little and it worked fine again. The water sometimes freezes in the line.

Theoldman : Bookmarked your post...mine needs fixing too. I guess Summer is hard on ice makers.

Zakangel : My fridge is old and my icemaker quit. I didn't want to spend much so I ordered another icemaker from this seller on Ebay: abelding707.
I told him my fridge model # and he confirmed the icemaker would fit. Shipped fast.
Took about 2 minutes to install. $25 and it was cranking out ice in no time.

RaggedyAnn : Exactly, this is the way. Parts are so cheap compared with labor that it doesn't make economic sense to call someone to fix an old ice maker. But definitely try thawing it first in case something's just frozen!I'd love to see more things being fixed than thrown out, but that's just the economic reality nowadays.
